It feels like summer is well and truly upon us now but don’t let it slip away without making the most of the best few months of the year. Here are 5 things you can do to prepare to have the best summer of your life!

1. A New Hair-Do

A change in season is the perfect excuse to take a trip to the salon. Take a couple of inches off the ends or run some lighter tones through your locks and you’ll walk out feeling like a brand new person. I spend most of the summer with my hair up in a bun or ponytail but I still like it to look sleek and shiny. While you’re at it a mani pedi wouldn’t be a bad idea too!

2. Update Your Wardrobe

This one is a no brainer, it’s time to put away the chunky knits and brave bare legs. This year in the UK we’ve been blessed with intermittent heatwaves and temperatures hitting over 30 degrees and we’ve not even reached the height of summer yet! It’s a great chance to buy floaty summer numbers in preparation for the heat but with so many trends doing the rounds there is ample inspiration to give your whole wardrobe a new look. Try an off the shoulder dress or paper bag style loose trousers for an uber chic look without breaking the bank.

3. Make Plans

Plan to do something that you look forward too. It might be a holiday or festival that you’ve got planned this summer or even just a day trip with friends. It’s so important to take a break from everyday life and enjoy spending time with people who make you feel good. I always try and get out of the house as much as possible, even just a walk around the block after dinner makes me feel like I’ve enjoyed the outdoors just a little bit after a day stuck behind a computer screen. Make the most of the longer days and balmy weather.

4. Forget About That Beach Body

How many times have you heard the term ‘beach body’ between Christmas and now? Probably far too many like I have and I think it’s time to put a stop to it. Your body is beach ready whether you train every day or haven’t exerted yourself for 10 years. We spend too long worrying about how we look on that one holiday where we may or may not get to wear a bikini. So this summer let’s forget about crazy diets and bootcamps, the beach will be ready for whatever body you decide to give it.

5. Don’t Neglect Your Skin

The hot weather can do a lot of damage to our skin but there are a few things we can do to protect ourselves. Make sure you always use SPF, even if you plan to be inside. The SPF in face creams or makeup isn’t really good enough when the sun rays are strong. Invest in a good sun screen, not all of them are pasty and make all the bugs stick to you! My favourite is the Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Ultra Radiance Lotion Sunscreen because it absorbs in to the skin really easily and smells like a Pina Colada! Secondly, drink as much water as you can. I’m terrible at drinking enough but I find carrying a litre bottle with me encourages me to drink more.

Let me know your plans for the summer and how you like to prepare in the comments below!

10 Ways To Feel Like A 10We all have those days when we feel under the weather or not as perky as we usually are. But there are some easy things we can do to get ourselves out of that funk. Here’s how you can feel on your A game every day:

1 Dress Up Or Dress Down

Sometimes spending three hours getting ready is ok and sometimes staying in your pyjama’s all day is also ok. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable!

2 Contact An Old Friend

Remember that friend from school that you used to spend every day with? As we grow up we can easily lose contact with people who used to be a huge part of our lives. Take time to search that old friend on social media and reminisce on old times.

3 Take A Nap

No one feels like 100% when they are tired and ratty. Catch up on your sleep with an afternoon nap and wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go.

4 Shop!

Whether it is online or at your local mall, shopping is a proven way to make you feel good. So go on, treat yourself!

5 Tidy Up

Nothing makes me feel better than coming home to a clean and tidy room. Clearing away the clutter makes me feel like my life is in order and I can take on the world.

6 Do Something For Someone Else

If you know someone going through a bad patch or just want to thank a friend then take some time to do something nice for them. Whether it’s taking them out for coffee or even a simple phone call, doing a good deed for them will make you feel better!

7 Find An Old Playlist

Scroll through your iTunes and find the first playlist you ever created. That’s bound to bring back some good memories and is probably the best music you have.

8 Stay Off Social Media

How many hours do we spend trawling through our social profiles every day? It can’t be good for us so try taking a break from social media for a few days and actually DO something.

9 Pamper Yourself

Take the time to give yourself some attention. Whatever makes you feel like a superstar, do it! Pedicure, manicure, hair, makeup, massage, why not try something new.

10 Make Plans

Make sure you have something to look forward to. I like to plan in something in once a week that I know I will enjoy. It can be watching a new movie, meeting up with friends or even just a takeaway.

I hope these little tips can help you get your sass back on those bad days!

I have to admit it, my designer bag wish list is growing longer by the day. In fact, browsing sites like Net-a-Porter and Farfetch has become a bit of a habit. But unfortunately, like most people, my bank balance can’t always stretch that far. Which is a shame because the last couple of seasons have been so inspiring in the women’s fashion world. But luckily for us small spenders the ‘high street’ has kept up. If you want to look designer without forking out thousands on an outfit then dupes are the way forward. I’ve seen so many amazing dupes recently and I had to share my favourites with you.

Balmain Blazer

Balmain has to be my favourite designer label at the moment. I love the structure and the bold detailing on all their pieces because it’s flattering for all body shapes and sizes. I also love the neutral palette Balmain tend to stick too. Nudes and beiges or khaki and black ensures any piece you purchase remains a classic.

But if you’re not feeling spendy then the blazer I’m wearing is from Missguided but is so similar to the real deal. And it’s only a fraction of the price at £30! I’ve styled this blazer in khaki in a pervious blog post and wore it so much the buttons literally fell off. It comes in other colours too like white and beige. My advice when buying this particular blazer is to size down. I am usually a size 6 but I went for a size 4 this time so that the fit was more cinched and structured.

Paige Cut Off Jeans

Cut off jeans are really in at the moment and perfect for the summer months. They’re so versatile to dress up for evening or down for daily wear. I saw Rosie Huntington-Whitely style these jeans a couple of ways on Paige’s twitter and it looked so effortless but well put together.

These ones I’m wearing from Topshop are the most comfortable jeans I own and the fit is perfect. I really struggle to find jeans that fit well and when I do they’re usually too uncomfortable to wear. So you can imagine how happy I was to find super soft, well fitting jeans in the style I wanted. If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen me wearing these a lot lately!

Chloe Faye Bag

The Chloe Faye bag is fast becoming a staple for any designer bag collection. I love that it comes in various sizes, colours and textures because it makes it easier for everyone to find one that they liked.

I have to be honest, when I first saw the Faye I wasn’t very impressed. It didn’t really feel like it would suit my style and Chloe wasn’t a designer I was that familiar with. But, like so many designer bags, the more I saw the Faye the more it grew on me. So much so that I found myself checking the price on Farfetch. I think I’d still be reluctant to buy one but for now this dupe from Lamoda does the job without the commitment!

Saint Laurent Sandals

If I was to invest in a designer item it would probably be a pair of shoes and it would most likely be these Saint Laurent sandals. This style is such a staple so I can be certain I would make good use of them.

However, as much as I think I would like the Saint Laurent pair I don’t take particularly good care of my shoes! If you’re like me then this dupe is really helpful. I can wear my New Look pair into the ground and buy a new pair without feeling like I’ve wasted money. You will have seen me wear these New Look heels in far too many posts but the style is a classic!

Andrea Marques T-Shirt

I always feel like designer t-shirts are a bigger deal for men than women. I personally wouldn’t necessarily want to spend triple figures just for a t-shirt but recently I was considering spending more than usual as long as the fit was right.

I’m always looking for well fitting t-shirts. I want ones that fall loosely but doesn’t look baggy or oversized which has proved to be a near impossible task. I was about to turn to designer in the hope that the right fit would justify the price tag but I spotted this grey Tee in the men’s section of Uniqlo. It was the colour and the material that caught my eye and it was less than £10 so I thought I would give it a go!

So if you don’t want to spend a months wages on a new pair of shoes then dupes can be a real life saver. Or if you do want to invest in a designer item then trying a dupe first is a good way to test the water and see how you style the item and how much you wear it. Either way, you can’t go too far wrong!

Those who know me really well know that for the past 18 months I have been obsessed with making my bedroom the most tranquil and relaxing environment I can. It’s become my regular hobby to collect magazines or images of rooms I like and I’ve probably banged on about bedroom inspiration to anyone who will listen for far longer than I care to admit! But now, a year an a half down the line, I feel like my own little space is nearly complete. That is until I noticed the lack of candles. My go-to place for any home accessories is always The White Company so off I went on a hunt to find the perfect finishing touches. I soon learnt that there is so much more to adding fragrance to a room than just a pretty looking candle.

Winter productsThe White Company home spray

One thing I have always wanted from my own space was the chance to escape from normal life. When I enter my bubble I want it to look, feel and smell familiar and comforting. Fragrance can make a world of difference to any atmosphere, you only have to walk past a Hollister store to know that! In the summer I love fresh, citrus smells but during the winter, especially around Christmas, don’t we all want to immerse our senses in rich, warm fragrance. The Winter collection encompasses both the citrus element with the orange scent but it also includes cinnamon and cloves for slightly spiced smell.

The Candle

In my opinion, everyone needs a selection of candles somewhere in their house. This was the first thing I noticed that was missing from mine and then I remembered why. When I was decorating I wanted to choose candles that would tie in with the colour scheme of my room, which of course is white. I get really fussy about candles that are not white but a cream colour, I know I’m being a bit picky but hey. So because of this my search for candles was put on hold until I saw that The White Company candles were as white as I could get. Next on my list is the engraved lid for candle!

The Diffuser

I find the most effective way of spreading fragrance in a room is by using a diffuser. There are so many diffusers on the market now, all varying in style and smell. From my experience, some diffusers do a great job for the first few weeks but any longer than that they seem to fade. I’ve been using The White Company diffusers for a few months now and I can safely say they never lose their fragrance. Even in the bathroom where the smell of water and damp can drown out a diffuser, The White Company ones just keep on going.

The Home Spray

I was probably most excited for this item as I have never used a home spray before. My initial worry was that spraying the scent directly around the room might make it stuffy and uncomfortable but the great thing about this one is that the smell takes a while to settle. You almost forget you have sprayed it before you catch a waft of winter warming goodness.
