I have to admit it, my designer bag wish list is growing longer by the day. In fact, browsing sites like Net-a-Porter and Farfetch has become a bit of a habit. But unfortunately, like most people, my bank balance can’t always stretch that far. Which is a shame because the last couple of seasons have been so inspiring in the women’s fashion world. But luckily for us small spenders the ‘high street’ has kept up. If you want to look designer without forking out thousands on an outfit then dupes are the way forward. I’ve seen so many amazing dupes recently and I had to share my favourites with you.
Balmain has to be my favourite designer label at the moment. I love the structure and the bold detailing on all their pieces because it’s flattering for all body shapes and sizes. I also love the neutral palette Balmain tend to stick too. Nudes and beiges or khaki and black ensures any piece you purchase remains a classic.
But if you’re not feeling spendy then the blazer I’m wearing is from Missguided but is so similar to the real deal. And it’s only a fraction of the price at £30! I’ve styled this blazer in khaki in a pervious blog post and wore it so much the buttons literally fell off. It comes in other colours too like white and beige. My advice when buying this particular blazer is to size down. I am usually a size 6 but I went for a size 4 this time so that the fit was more cinched and structured.
Paige Cut Off Jeans
Cut off jeans are really in at the moment and perfect for the summer months. They’re so versatile to dress up for evening or down for daily wear. I saw Rosie Huntington-Whitely style these jeans a couple of ways on Paige’s twitter and it looked so effortless but well put together.
These ones I’m wearing from Topshop are the most comfortable jeans I own and the fit is perfect. I really struggle to find jeans that fit well and when I do they’re usually too uncomfortable to wear. So you can imagine how happy I was to find super soft, well fitting jeans in the style I wanted. If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen me wearing these a lot lately!
Chloe Faye Bag
The Chloe Faye bag is fast becoming a staple for any designer bag collection. I love that it comes in various sizes, colours and textures because it makes it easier for everyone to find one that they liked.
I have to be honest, when I first saw the Faye I wasn’t very impressed. It didn’t really feel like it would suit my style and Chloe wasn’t a designer I was that familiar with. But, like so many designer bags, the more I saw the Faye the more it grew on me. So much so that I found myself checking the price on Farfetch. I think I’d still be reluctant to buy one but for now this dupe from Lamoda does the job without the commitment!
Saint Laurent Sandals
If I was to invest in a designer item it would probably be a pair of shoes and it would most likely be these Saint Laurent sandals. This style is such a staple so I can be certain I would make good use of them.
However, as much as I think I would like the Saint Laurent pair I don’t take particularly good care of my shoes! If you’re like me then this dupe is really helpful. I can wear my New Look pair into the ground and buy a new pair without feeling like I’ve wasted money. You will have seen me wear these New Look heels in far too many posts but the style is a classic!
Andrea Marques T-Shirt
I always feel like designer t-shirts are a bigger deal for men than women. I personally wouldn’t necessarily want to spend triple figures just for a t-shirt but recently I was considering spending more than usual as long as the fit was right.
I’m always looking for well fitting t-shirts. I want ones that fall loosely but doesn’t look baggy or oversized which has proved to be a near impossible task. I was about to turn to designer in the hope that the right fit would justify the price tag but I spotted this grey Tee in the men’s section of Uniqlo. It was the colour and the material that caught my eye and it was less than £10 so I thought I would give it a go!
So if you don’t want to spend a months wages on a new pair of shoes then dupes can be a real life saver. Or if you do want to invest in a designer item then trying a dupe first is a good way to test the water and see how you style the item and how much you wear it. Either way, you can’t go too far wrong!
